According to government documents and articles it is said that to help maintain good health an adult (between 19-64) should be active for at least 150 minutes per week. Another way of putting it is moderate to light exercise for 30 minutes per day.
I think that is a very relevant statistic, reason being, I know how overwhelming it can be if you have not exercised for a while to get back on that horse and keep it going. Out of curiosity today I looked up my obesity classification for my weight two and a half years ago and it turns out I was in class three. It is no wonder I always crawled under the covers of my bed and stayed far away from the world on my days off. At that time of my life I lived very much like an old iPhone's battery, I kept exertion to a minimum in case I ran out of oomph at the end of the day. These days I can easily run away with myself and write blog posts about exercising and doing movements that are becoming second nature to me, not realising that many people can't do them.
Today I thought that I'd focus on something simple, something that the majority of us can manage. A BRISK WALK A DAY CAN KEEP THE DOCTOR AWAY! (Apples can too, so lets remember that.) If all you can manage to do is walk for 20-30 minutes every day, then that is great, it is better than sitting at home and feeling sorry for yourself. Trust me I have been there and it keeps you spiralling down, you want to be spiralling upwards and making progress, the only way to do that is to put one foot in front of the other.
I'll keep this one relatively short today; if you or someone you is having trouble being active, someone struggling to be more positive and get their life going then this might be the post for them. My challenge to you is to head out for a 20-30 minute walk each day for a week, go out with a good audiobook or some relaxing music in you ears and let your mind detach itself from the 'normal' routine. Stimulate your muscles and get the heart working for you, you must treat your body well it is the only one you've got!
